Commercial questions
Frequently asked questions from green coffee buyers
Samples, volume, harvest, logistics and export answered directly, to shorten the distance between your first question and the first cup on your cupping table.
Request a sampleThe questions that come up before every first purchase.
These are the questions roasters, importers and B2B buyers most often bring to Vertente. Where the answer depends on your market, your destination or your volume, we say so plainly: the specific figure comes back through the sample form, not from a generic number published on this page.
Samples
How to ask, what actually reaches you, and what to tell us for a useful reply.
How do I request a sample from Fazenda Vertente?
Through the form on the Contact page. Tell us your company, country, estimated volume and interest; the commercial team replies with harvest availability, lot profile and next steps. The more buying context you give, the sharper the answer — requests with no volume or market take longer to become a real conversation.

Is there a cost for the sample?
Sample cost and freight are confirmed in the reply to your form, before anything ships. Destination, intended volume and timing vary widely between a domestic roaster and an importer, so Vertente prefers to settle that point in conversation rather than publish a rule that would fit no one.
How large is the sample you send?
The size follows the evaluation you plan to run. A cupping table needs far less coffee than a roast curve trial or a production line validation. Say which evaluation you have in mind and the team sizes the sample so it can actually answer your technical question.
Can I receive the lot spec sheet along with the sample?
Yes. The sheet gathers variety, process, altitude, harvest and sensory profile of the lot being sent, so the sample arrives with context rather than as an unlabelled bag. Ask for the full spec sheet in the message field of the form, and name your destination market.

What Vertente sells, at what scale, and how a recurring supply is built.
What is the minimum purchase volume?
Volume is set lot by lot, in the commercial conversation. Vertente is a single 3,000-hectare farm with 22 center pivots in Cabeceiras de Goiás, so there is room for smaller specialty lots as well as recurring volumes. Give an estimated volume in the form to get a concrete answer for the current harvest.
Do you sell green coffee or roasted coffee?
Vertente sells green coffee to roasters, importers and B2B buyers. This site is institutional: there is no shop and no checkout, and every negotiation runs through commercial contact. Roasting stays with the buyer, who decides profile, curve and brand from the green coffee delivered.
Can the same profile be held throughout the year?
Yes, within what each harvest delivers. Topázio, Catuaí 144 and Catuaí 62 are followed from the nursery and processed by the same natural method, dried on the patio — which supports consistency across lots. Confirmation always comes from the sample of the lot in question, never from a catalogue promise.
Can we set up a recurring supply agreement?
Yes, and it is the arrangement Vertente is most interested in. A recurring agreement lets annual volume, shipping windows and expected profile be aligned in advance, which lowers risk on both sides. Bring your intended annual volume and your operating calendar to the first contact.
Harvest and quality
Calendar, varieties, process, and how a lot is checked before it leaves the farm.
When is the harvest and when does the coffee become available?
Harvest follows the Goiás Cerrado calendar and is concentrated in the dry mid-year period. Availability of each lot is confirmed after patio drying and milling, so the best route is to check the current harvest through the form, telling us when you need the coffee in hand.
Which varieties does Vertente grow and what is the sensory profile?
The farm grows Topázio, Catuaí 144 and Catuaí 62, arabicas cultivated on irrigated Cerrado at around 750 metres. The process is natural, dried on the patio, and the profile points to chocolate, caramel and creaminess: a sweet cup with velvety body and a long finish.

What does natural processing change about this coffee?
In natural processing the whole cherry dries with its pulp before milling, which tends to build more sweetness and body than a washed lot. At Vertente drying happens on the patio under daily supervision, because that stage is what separates a clean natural from a defective one.
How is lot quality checked before shipping?
Vertente follows the lot from field to patio and cups it before releasing a sample. Even so, the final word is yours: the coffee is sent to be evaluated under your own protocol, on your own table, with the criteria your roastery already uses.
Logistics and delivery
Where the coffee ships from, how it is packed, and what is agreed case by case.
Where does the coffee ship from and how does it reach the buyer?
The coffee leaves Fazenda Vertente in Cabeceiras de Goiás (GO), about 130 km from Brasília, at the source of the Urucuia River. Route, carrier and delivery point are defined with the buyer in the commercial conversation, according to destination, volume and timing — the family keeps its commercial base in Brasília.

How are the lots packed?
Packing format is agreed according to destination and transit time, because a lot moving to a neighbouring state and a lot crossing the Atlantic do not ask for the same protection. Say in the form how you intend to receive the coffee and the team confirms what is possible for the current harvest.
Do you serve buyers outside Brazil?
Yes. Vertente works with roasters and importers in Brazil and abroad, which is why this site is published in Portuguese and English. Name your destination country in the form: it changes documentation, logistics and lead times, and it is the single detail that most speeds up the reply.
Can we visit the farm before closing a deal?
Yes. Visits to Fazenda Vertente and meetings with the Miari family can be arranged through the contact form. For buyers evaluating single origin, seeing the pivot, the drying patio and the Urucuia headwaters usually settles in one afternoon what a deck cannot.

Certifications, traceability, and the paperwork that travels with the negotiation.
Which certifications come with Vertente coffee?
The operation is Guaxupé Planet certified and C.A.F.E. Practices verified, and is under review for Rainforest Alliance. These are credentials international buyers recognise, and they work as the starting point for the origin due diligence your company needs to run.

What traceability documentation do you provide?
Vertente works with single, traceable origin: one grower, one farm, identified plots, from planting to shipment. Available documentation — lot origin, field management and lab reports — is sent according to what your market requires. Ask through the form, naming the destination country and the end buyer.
How does exporting Vertente coffee work?
The shipping structure is designed case by case, with the buyer or with the importer they nominate, covering incoterm, customs clearance and documentation. No single package is published here because every market imposes its own requirements; name the destination and the reply comes back with the right arrangement.
Do you publish technical reports and environmental management documents?
Yes. Technical reports and environmental management documentation are gathered on The Farm page, available to consult and download. If your buying process requires a document that is not published there, ask through the form and name the standard or audit you need to satisfy.
